Somewhere Cold

It's always summer here, it's 50 in the shade.
Trapped in a microwave, standing on a hotplate.
And on a clear day, I watch the heat haze ride of everything.
I can hear my heart sing.
"I was born in an endless heatwave, I wanna go somewhere cold"
And I think.
A life spent travelling is a life spent well.
I'll see you all when I come home.
I'll pack my bags and leave to anywhere I'd rather be.
We should catch up when I come home.
Their born and die here, spending every day trapped in the old ways
Searching for a pay day.
You'll be your dads son, when all's said and done 2 kids and a trapped wife.
Living in a beige life.
And through the heat haze, they're spending every day watching hair turning grey.
Fading into old age.
But on the right night, under the right light. I can see everything.
Family, occupation and avocation keep me stuck around.
But I can feel the heat.
As it pools under my feet.
With reasons old and sweet, and tries to melt me to the ground.

Alchemy Aside

Tried to carpe some diems, but it's not going well.
You could say I'm sinking but from here it's hard to tell.
And if I found a way to turn all these lead weights into gold.
Well at least then I'd be rich and held down.
You say go slow, but I'm already left behind.
It weighs on my mind.
In quiet, corners. The worst bit all combine.
I'm never feeling fine again.
Tried to conquer some demons, but it's not going well
I'll just say whatever and sometimes I'll mean it.
High hopes of happy endings, till expectations feel.
All this time unsatisfied but alchemy aside,
Solutions are so hard to come by
You say go slow, but I'm already left behind.
It weighs on my mind.
In quiet, corners. The worst bits all combine.
It weighs on my mind.
You say go slow, but I'm already left behind.
(I don't think I'm ever feeling fine)
It weighs on my mind.
In quiet, corners. The worst bit all combine.
I'm never feeling fine again.

I could make my own federation, of unions between nations
But only between coffee breaks.
And I could write my own constitution, without a war or a revolution.
But only after lunch.
I hereby declare procrastination, the ruler of my nations and I hand over all of my control to her, and in between the violent gang rebuttals and interperson scuffles, I hand it all to her.
And I, think I could find the answer to AIDS and cure cancer,
If I wasn't so stuck to this chair.
And I'd remove the man in the middle, take away all things little about which I simply do not care.
I hereby declare procrastination, the ruler of my nations and I hand over all of my control to her, and in between the violent gang rebuttals and interperson scuffles, I hand it all to her.
